May Day 2008 and other ramblings

Well, it is May Day and here in New England, the weather is not indicative of what the name reflects. It's sunny, but cold. I went to the small neighborhood supermarket at lunch time and spoke with one of the retired/part-time women at the store. She is wonderful and always has an energetic smile and greeting for everyone she checks out! She told me about a tradition she remembered as a young girl. She and her family would decorate baskets with ribbon and fill them with goodies. Then they would bring the baskets to the elderly to brighten their day...what a great idea!

I work in the advertising industry and one of my favorite co-workers suggested that our class initiate an all-classes reunion. Since Bridgewater-Raritan High School is not that old, in terms of the number of graduating classes, I thought it was a spectacular idea. So I am putting it out there for my classmates and other graduates of BRHS. I realize this will be at least one year in the planning, so let's get started.

It's a great way to see people who were in the other "classes" that we either had a crush on or just admired!

Let me know what you think!

I knew a lot of people from other classes but the relationship was not as close as it was with our class. I probably would not have a strong interest particularly if I was a person who had to travel or pay for airfare to get there.

I understand how you feel, but you would also be with the class of 1966!

I would be interested in seeing people who would have been in school with us. Limit it from classes of "63 to "69.

How about limiting it to just the classes that were in school ahead of us and behind us (ie. '63-'69).

How about just having people from classes of '64-'68 or maybe one more year in either direction. They would have all been in school with us at some point.

These are all great ideas and I'll see what the consensus is. I'm also going to post something on the BRHS regular Alumni website. I've been in contact with the High School principal.

:).. that assumes we'll be able to afford air tickets or gas prices to get there a year from now... :)

well, i'm prejudiced towards including '62 as the first graduating class, and '63, as the first to go four full years at BRHS [and it's MY class, too.. ]

if positive responses start coming in, you might consider expanding the class year list until something like a "reasonably-sized" crowd could be expected... maybe 50-100 or more? enough to overwhelm a restaurant or two, and enough to cover the rental of a dance hall for a "gathering" at a modest price per person...

just thinkin... neat idea! thank you!
